I have read about journalists being unable to verify COVID mortality statistics - but I'm not sure there is an appreciation for how close we are to a society in which citizens simply disappear.
I have had a number of instances in the last five plus years where I tried to find information on my deceased friends and relatives and was unable. In one case I just wanted to know the time of the service; put in every other detail into search and came up with nothing. I had to make an old fashioned phone call. Very insidious.
Thanks for highlighting the insanity of thinking the government works for us when it's long been an arm of the ruling class. People can't help but notice all the wildly disproportionate responsed from U.S. "authorities." Since (for now anyway), everybody and their brother has a way to make a stink about it publicly, pushback is happening in real-time -- a major, major advancement over years past. It's encouraging to see people pointing out all the inadequacies, lies and nefarious behavior. in this and everything else the "authorities" manage.
